Finding and obtaining the most suitable postural support equipment for a person with physical disabilities can be time consuming, overwhelming, and financially demanding. Once in place, it is extremely important to ensure that a device fits a person comfortably in order to gain the desired function and benefit from it. Achieving comfort can be quite challenging, especially for people with complex physical needs. As these individuals grow and develop, it is essential that the equipment is adjustable to accommodate these changes, and so constant reinvestment isn’t required.
Below, we answer six frequently asked questions about adjustments to your Innowalk device.
1. How do I go about adapting the Innowalk?
The Innowalk is a personal device, and must only be used by the individual it was assessed and set up for. Any adjustments to Innowalk settings should only be made by product specialists from Made for Movement or other qualified people trained by Made for Movement. This promotes consistent optimal and safe use of the Innowalk.
2. Do I need any additional parts to adapt the Innowalk?
Your Innowalk may be provided with a ‘growth kit’, which will include all parts that are expected to be needed to allow a user to achieve the full potential size range of each Innowalk model. As everyone grows differently, and unexpected changes can occur, further additional parts may be required in the future. Your product specialist will discuss this and all of your options with you at the assessment.
3. When does my Innowalk need to be adjusted?
One of our trained, product specialists will adjust your Innowalk as and when it is needed. You should look out for signs of user growth or change, and contact Made for Movement when you would like a review. We may ask for your physiotherapist to be present or have some input on the review, to enable optimal Innowalk use in alignment with therapy goals. Often other postural support equipment and mobility devices will also need adjustments at the same time, for example following a growth spurt. Customers with an active Uptime subscription are entitled to two inclusive growth review visits per year. Any additional visits required are possible using an Uptime Flex pay as you go plan.

4. Are there any other maintenance checks required?
It is recommended that your Innowalk has an annual inspection by one of our technical team, which is also included in an Uptime subscription, and available on Uptime Flex for those without an active subscription. Your annual inspection is due each year following your Innowalk set up date, and we will contact you to book this in. 5. Can you provide training to carers?
We can deliver training to care teams and families as part of or instead of the Uptime review/refitting visit. The training will include practical use of the Innowalk, rather than adjustments.
6. For how long will my Innowalk be suitable?
Every individual is different and has their own specific needs, so we work closely with each family to ensure the right model, with the right accessories, is chosen. Our product specialists or technical team will aim to inform you when your Innowalk has been adjusted close to the maximum settings for that size. Because everyone grows at different pace, there is no definite answer to how long the equipment will be suitable, however, there are some specifications regarding weight and height limits for each model:
